Author Appreciation Week

That wily and gifted debut YA author Heidi R. Kling is at it again. Making the world a better, friendlier place for readers and writers. (Yes, yes, we all adore her :-). Author Appreciation Week. If you haven't heard of it, when you're done here, check it out. Some of you may recall what I asked readers to do to show their love for a favorite author around Valentine's Day (via Twitter). I'm repeating that request here (and giving additional suggestions) for Author Appreciation Week.

Yes, please blog about the authors you appreciate most and why. Link to their books, book trailers (and your onsite reviews) to better educate readers about why you appreciate them.

And then (for you wonderful overachievers ;-), please do this, too:

  1. Get on Amazon.com and do a review for at least one of that author's books that you absolutely loved. Those reviews are more important to authors than you may think.
  2. Go to Goodreads.com and Librarything.com and rate and review your faves there too.
  3. Consider starting a Listopia list for your Author Appreciation Week favorites.
  4. If you have a Delicious account, bookmark a couple of your favorite authors' websites or some of their coolest posts. That helps raise awareness of them, too.
  5. Keep the spirit of Author Appreciation week going by WoW-ing a favorite author's upcoming book and tagging it on Twitter with the #AAW hashtag.
Thanks to all of you participating (and thanks to Heidi for coming up with the idea--she's truly an author to appreciate).
~Shannon

You are so very very right. We need to keep this #AAW movement going. Thank you for listing the various ways we can show our appreciation every single day!

I love this idea! Heidi is the bomb for coming up with it. I'll be sure to get on Amazon and B&N and do a bunch of reviews this week to support my favorite authors!
