Baggage of All Sorts

I've been doing a bunch of traveling recently, so baggage is frequently on my mind. But the type of baggage I want to talk to you about is the emotional baggage we all, as readers, take with us when we prepare to read a book.

Great idea. Sometimes I think baggage is what drives us to write. Maybe it's a writer's way of working things out through their novels. Usually there is a character or a scene in my novel that works out something I've dealt with in my own life. Not always though, some of my novels, and most of the scenes in them, are just flat out fun! But baggage is part of our experience and I think that's what makes us better writers. Sometimes... ;)
