Shifting into High Gear: Author Judith Grave of Under My Skin Returns

Yesterday Young Adult author Judith Graves joined us here to answer a question I had and shared some info about her recent werewolf-related release, UNDER MY SKIN.

Judith's back today to answer more questions and share an excerpt from her debut novel.

ME: Please give me 3 words that describe Under My Skin and then tell me how those words relate to it.

JUDITH: temptation, betrayal, blood. Eryn is tempted by her growing powers, tempted by others around her who have embraced their dark side. Blood calls to her and yet she fears innocent blood on her hands. And swirling under all the surface turmoil and pain, Eryn longs to find out what happened to her parents. Were they betrayed by the Hunter Council? Or does Eryn have more to do with their disappearance than she knows?

ME: Great! Here's the book's blurb...

All her parents wanted was for Eryn to live a normal life... Redgrave had its share of monsters before Eryn moved to town. Mauled pets, missing children. The Delacroix family is taking the blame, but Eryn knows the truth. Something stalks the night. Wade, the police chief's son and Redgrave High's resident hottie, warns her the Delacroix are dangerous. But then so is Eryn--in fact, she's lethal. But she can't help falling for one of the Delacroix boys, dark, brooding--human Alec. And then her world falls apart. A normal life? Now that's the real fairytale.

One more quick question today and then a couple more links to great stuff!

ME: How old were you when you started to enjoy writing or making up stories?

JUDITH: In elementary school I used to write in those tiny, lock and key diaries. But I’d fill the pages with random words, poems, music lyrics and eventually stories. Those diaries became too small. I progressed to coil notebooks….and from there I started writing flash fiction (short, short stories) and longer works.

ME: I remember those little diaries! I had one, promptly lost the keys and had to break back into the darn thing.

Here's a fun excerpt for you (below the interview). And another (with a review) that includes the bunny blood scene. Geez. What is it with rabbits and werewolves? ;-)

What author Rosemary Clement-Moore, of Prom Dates from Hell, had to say about UNDER MY SKIN:

"Under My Skin is a roller-coaster romp through a supernatural world filled with scary beasties, otherworldly magic, and characters you'll root for. Eryn is a tough but likable protagonist whose paranormal problems make a compelling story full of mystery, magic, action and romance. A fun and engaging read. I'm looking forward to the sequel."
